Emergency Escape

Escape Medium WASD or joystick 1–4 minutes

Emergency Escape puts a countdown on the screen and gives you exactly one way to extend it: reach the next checkpoint. Everything else — routing, zombie avoidance, risk-taking — becomes a question of what the clock can afford.

How to Play Emergency Escape

  1. Press Start. You have twenty seconds — not enough to reach the safe zone directly.
  2. Move with WASD or the joystick toward the nearest checkpoint marker.
  3. Each checkpoint adds fifteen seconds and reveals the next one.
  4. Zombies do not need to catch you — forcing a detour is enough to lose you the run.
  5. Reach the final safe zone before the timer expires to complete the sector.

Objective

Reach the safe zone before the countdown expires. Checkpoints add time. Completing a sector starts a longer one.

About Emergency Escape

The timer starts at twenty seconds, which is deliberately not enough to reach the safe zone. It is enough to reach the first checkpoint, which adds fifteen seconds, which is enough to reach the second. The whole game is a chain of just-barely-sufficient budgets, and the tension comes from how little slack any of them contain.

Because the clock is the real enemy, zombies function differently from other escape games. They do not need to catch you — they only need to make you go around, and every detour costs seconds you did not have. A zombie standing in a corridor is dangerous not because it might touch you but because it might cost you four seconds.

Checkpoint placement varies between runs while the total distance stays constant, which means route planning cannot be memorised. Each attempt is a fresh reading of where the checkpoints sit relative to each other and whether the fastest chain is also the safest one. It rarely is.

Emergency Escape Tips & Strategy

  1. Read the whole chain before you move. The nearest checkpoint is not always the right first one.
  2. A four-second detour is worse than a risky two-second squeeze. Price every route in seconds.
  3. Never stop moving to think. Think while running toward the checkpoint you are confident about.
  4. Zombies in corridors are the most expensive threat in the game. Route around corridors, not around zombies.
  5. The last checkpoint before the safe zone is the one worth taking risks for — after it the clock is generous.
  6. If the timer drops under five seconds, take the direct line. Caution has stopped being affordable.

Features

  • A countdown that only checkpoints can extend
  • Checkpoint positions that vary between runs
  • Zombies that threaten your clock rather than your health
  • Sectors that grow longer with each completion
  • A genuine win condition with a victory screen

Emergency Escape — FAQ

How much time does a checkpoint add?
Fifteen seconds each. The starting budget is twenty seconds, which is intentionally not enough to reach the safe zone directly.
Can zombies kill me in this game?
Contact costs you five seconds rather than ending the run outright. That keeps the clock as the true failure condition throughout.
Are the checkpoints in the same place every run?
No. Positions vary while total distance stays constant, so routes cannot be memorised between attempts.
What happens when I complete a sector?
A longer sector begins with more checkpoints and more zombies, and your best sector number is recorded.
